de Goede & McElhanney Developments Ltd. is a Residential Construction Company that specializes in New House Builds, Garden Suites / Laneway Homes, Home Renovations, and Landscaping throughout Greater Victoria.
The Principals are Jacob de Goede, Kerry McElhanney and Conor McElhanney.
Our History
Our company name may be long and hard to pronounce, but the de Goede & McElhanney families have a long history with construction in BC.
The de Goede family have been in the construction industry on Vancouver Island since the early 70’s. This history started when one of the owner's father, Hans de Goede, started an apprenticeship with Farmer Construction with his brother Mike. After gaining insight, learning the necessary crafts, and having the ambition to grow, Hans and Mike started Good Brothers Construction. This led to all five brothers uniting, which included Jim, John, and Dick, where they purchased Vic Truss off the original owners. This ambition and drive has been passed down to Jacob de Goede, son of Hans, who is the President of de Goede & McElhanney Developments Ltd. With almost 40 years of the de Goede family building on Vancouver Island, we look to continuing this legacy.
Conor and Kerry acknowledge their heritage in BC, through McElhanney. McElhanney is an employee-owned engineering, geomatics, and landscape architecture company started in Vancouver, which was founded by William Gordon McElhanney in 1910. William McElhanney is the Great-Grandfather of Conor & Kerry, while there is no legal affiliation with the McElhanney company. The McElhanney brothers look to their great grandfather, who was a trailblazer, to find new paths that are more efficient and effective for their clients.
